Dr. Yi joined
TissueGene in May of 2000 as a
Senior Scientist.
He received
his bachelors, masters and Doctoral degrees in Microbiology and Genetics from
Seoul National University. Dr. Yi then conducted his postdoctoral research at
the National Institutes of Health in the Laboratory of Cell Regulation and Carcinogenesis
where his primary focus was investigating the transcriptional regulation of
TGF-ß type II receptor expression as a possible mechanism of TGF-ß resistance
in many cancer cells. It was during this work that Dr. Yi identified ERT as
a novel ets-related transcription factor, and confirmed its involvement in TGF-ß
type II receptor regulation. Following this line of research Dr. Yi went on
to create an inducible knockout for TGF-ß type II receptor, and further characterized
the genes role in cancer.
Dr. Yi works closely with the global network of investigators and has pioneered
several new areas of research within the organization. Dr. Yi is well published
in the field and continues to make valuable contributions not only to TissueGene
but to the entire scientific community.
